On the 6th and 7th of October, our team embarked on a heartwarming mission across Brazzaville. We visited four orphanages: Maison Espérance, Yamba Nga, Bon Berger, and Saint Joseph to deliver much-needed school supplies and food provisions to over 150 children.

This was more than just a donation; it served as a powerful reminder that these children are not forgotten.

At each orphanage, we were greeted with songs, prayers, and shining smiles. The children expressed their gratitude in beautiful ways that touched every member of our team. They prayed for us and our supporters, hoping that we continue to have the strength and means to expand our efforts.

The experience was both uplifting and humbling, reminding us of the resilience and hope present even in the most challenging circumstances.

The Reality on the Ground

Orphanages in Congo-Brazzaville bear immense pressure. Beyond providing daily meals, they face significant challenges in providing healthcare, educational support, and psychological care for children who have often lost everything. Many of these institutions struggle to meet their basic operational needs.

Our visits revealed both the beauty and burdens of these places. The beauty lies in the courage of the children and their caretakers. The burden is the lack of consistent support. Unfortunately, donations to charities and by extension many orphanages are drying up, driven in large part by a sharp decline in the number of small and micro-donors.

That’s where CVEF comes in. Our commitment is to create long-term solutions through educational initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and strategic support. By tackling these fundamental challenges, we aim to help pave the way for a brighter future for these vulnerable children.

Looking Ahead: A New Educational Initiative

Following our mission, CVEF is excited to announce a new educational project. We plan to print and distribute “Mes Premiers Mots en Anglais” translated as "My First Words in English", a bilingual children’s book designed to introduce basic English to young learners.

We believe in the power of language to open doors. Learning English alongside French is more than acquiring a skill; it’s an essential investment in a child’s future. Each book costs just £3.50, or 2,500 FCFA. Our goal is to print 1,000 copies to distribute in Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, and surrounding villages, enhancing educational opportunities and promoting social mobility.

The impact of this initiative could be significant. Studies have shown that children who are bilingual perform 30% better in their studies compared to monolingual peers, leading to higher academic achievement.
