On Friday 22nd May, the Cornish Views Education Foundation (CVEF) proudly celebrated the International Day for Telecommunications and the Information Society, traditionally observed on 17th May. To mark the occasion, we brought together ten outstanding students from ten sixth forms across Brazzaville for a unique and inspiring educational experience at Radio MUCODEC.
Radio MUCODEC, part of MUCODEC (Mutuelles Congolaises d’Epargne et de Crédit)’s marketing cornerstones, is one of Brazzaville’s leading radio stations and generously opened its doors to welcome our students behind the scenes. Throughout the day, students were immersed in the daily realities of life in broadcasting, discovering the many roles that make radio possible.
The students selected for this initiative were:
MASSAMBA Meshak Frad Sagesse
LOKO Claude Eureta
MAKANGA Rochna Gofrede
DIASSONAMA Dias
MIAFOUNA Winner
NKOUNKOU Ulrich
ANDZANGA Micanor
Gloire N.
NSOSSOMOUNA Ketia
SANA Junior
The experience moved far beyond theory. Students had the opportunity to engage with practical demonstrations, interact directly with professionals, and gain valuable insights into careers in media and communications. For many, it opened doors to possibilities they had never previously considered.

CVEF also reinforced this learning experience by providing students with laptops, tools intended to become foundations for continued exploration, learning and growth. These devices were generously provided through our partnership with The Turing Trust, enabling students to continue building on the inspiration and knowledge gained during their visit.
The Turing Trust is a UK charity founded by members of Alan Turing’s family that works to bridge the digital divide by refurbishing computers and providing technology, educational software, and training to disadvantaged communities around the world, particularly across Africa. Their work helps create access to digital education while also reducing electronic waste and promoting sustainability.
One of the participating students, Diassonama Dias, reflected on the experience:
“The event went really well. We visited the radio’s offices, which was really cool. It wasn’t just theory, it was practical, which was amazing. Thanks to CVEF for organising this; I’m really pleased. If possible, please continue sponsoring similar initiatives to help expand our vision.”
Rose BAKOUMA, Community Manager at MUCODEC, also shared her thoughts following the initiative:
“It was a real pleasure for us to host these students as they discovered radio broadcasting. Their keen interest, curiosity, and enthusiasm made the experience even more enriching. We’re pleased to have been able to share our experience and contribute, in our own way, towards their learning and future aspirations.”

At CVEF, we believe education is not only about classrooms and textbooks, it is about creating experiences that broaden horizons, unlock potential, and inspire ambition. Initiatives like this allow young people to discover new paths and envision futures they may not previously have imagined.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Radio MUCODEC for their warm hospitality and commitment to inspiring young minds. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to The Turing Trust for their invaluable support in providing digital resources that will continue empowering these students beyond this event. Special thanks also go to Stephanie Sharkey and Neil Gilchrist for their collaboration and shared commitment to creating lasting impact.
Together, we are building more than opportunities — we are helping shape futures!
